Louis CHENU is a French film music composer. Passionate about cinema and music since childhood, he began his studies in film scoring at the age of 18 in his hometown Annecy, at the conservatory of music. There, he also studied jazz saxophone and guitar. He performed his own songs in a rock band. In 2015, he received a DEM (diploma of musical studies in France) in film scoring, for which he was awarded a price by the SACEM. Following, Louis entered the film scoring bachelor’s program at the
CNSMD (French higher education institution for music and dance) in Lyon. He is currently studying film scoring at CNSMD de Lyon at master’s level.
He has broadened his knowledge and skills in musical language and technics, while Increased his sensibility towards images. He has been working on various projects with professional musicians. Those experiences have brought him to develop his skills in orchestral writing to an excellent level. Passionate about concert music, he has also written music to be performed live by orchestras during film screenings. Louis is keen on composing music in different genres: symphonic music, electronic music, pop music or even jazz music. His musical universe has mainly been influenced by poetry. His curiosity has pushed him to approach various media such as action films, animated films, documentaries, advertisings, video games, or even theater plays.
In 2017, Louis was part of the film scoring Master Class directed by French composer Jérôme Lemonnier at the « Festival International du Film d’Aubagne ». He received at the Festival du cinéma & musique de La Baule the Ibis d'or : "Révélation jeune talent 2019'.
